Our Team
Team owner - Garland Risner has been involved in racing since the early 1980's staring in go-karts and rapidly moving up the ranks and into midget racing. A career choice took him away from the sport and into street rods and suspension development for a number of years. Through a series of events and a significant amount of luck, GR Motorsports has come together with a level of breadth and depth of experience found in only a few of the top teams in the country.
Lead Crew Chief - Lonnie Lopez is a BCRA Hall of Fame member who has has raced with and managed dirt oval racing teams since 1996 and fielded as many as four cars at a time as an owner. Lonnie has won numerous championships in 1998, 1999, 2000-2003 and competed in CA, AZ, UT, CO, OR, & WA both as a driver and as a car owner. He has won owner championships in 2007 - 2011 and 2015 in BCRA and as crew Chief won the Western States USAC Midget Championship in 2012. Lonnie has experience as a many tracks throughout the western United States. Lonnie has 11 championships and well over 100 wins in his career as a driver, car owner and crew chief.
Co Crew Chief - Eddie Alberti has raced dirt tracks since 1999 in Micro Midgets, Mini Sprints, and Lightening Sprints and won several championships as both a car owner and driver. Eddie has filled the role as Crew Chief for Micro, Mini Sprints, full Midgets and Sprint Cars and has experience with nearly every dirt track in California and most others in the western United States. He is our shock and chassis set up specialist.
Technical Director - Allen Ennis started racing at age 42 in Mini Stocks and Modifieds. He has won numerous Main Events and even three championships. Allen has been involved with teams racing for many years between himself and his son Chris. Allen continues to manage teams that compete in ASCS 360 and 305 Sprint Cars in both Winged and Non-winged configurations. Allen brings a wealth of background, knowledge and strategy to our team.
Driver - John Murdie from Darwin, Northern Territory (NT), (Australia) will pilot the #21G car in the 2023 Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK. John is a diesel fitter in one of the remote mines in Australia. He is a son of a 3Q year veteran of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), oldest of four to parents Trevor and Julies. Siblings:Tamara, Jayden and Scott. John was always a spectator from a young age thanks to his dad for taking him to the races. He started racing at the age of 22 in 2008. Currently running a non-winged sprintcar (Aust. Style V6). When John isn’t busy racing, he enjoys Australian Football (AFL), rugby, soccer and American football. He also golfs, fishes and goes camping.
Driver - Teddy Bivert lives in Fruitland, ID and will drive the 22S car in a limited end of season schedule for the 2022 Western States Midget series along with Chili Bowl Nationals 2023. He has raced 500 Outlaw Karts with numerous national title wins and a number of wins and several back to back local, and national championships. Teddy is currently a student at Western Governors University studying Business Management and working his way through school for Idaho Fence Masters.
